This vacuum is awesome. Anyone purchasing it won’t be disappointed. It is a bit heavy for me but not unmanageable. Easy to assemble and easy to use. Thank-you.

People who own this vacuum need to know; Do not be rough with the lever that you press down with your foot to make the vacuum lean back to vacuum. We would pull back on the vacuum while pressing down on the lever and the lever broke after a while and the vacuum would not stay sitting upright, we would have to lean it up against a wall. Also be gentle with the telescopic wand, that stopped working after a while and when you used it to clean it would not stay outstretched it would always collapse because the locking mechanism broke. This is the best vacuum I have ever owned for suction. Love that it has a bag and a hepa filter.

Bought another same Kenmore model after years of good use.
Still very good…maybe not as good suction as the old one though.

I replaced this vacuum with the same exact model that i bought about 6 years ago! It got beat up and i somehow broke the the pedal that keeps it upright, so i decided to look for a new Vacuum! I went to 5 different places that sell Vacuums and could not find a single one that uses bags, I hate the bagless ones as they are messy and do not like the look of the dirt in it and having to always wash filters , So after much research and shopping arround, I discovered that many of the Vacuums on the market are just cheaply made and a bad design! Maybe because i was used to this high quality product that i did not like anything else.
So, I ordered the same one again as this Vacuum sounds and looks great, not too loud and very smooth sounding, you can tell it has a solid motor, also I never had to replace anything on my olde one, no belt and the bags last a very long time between changes! It is not good on stairs but I don’t have stairs to worry about anyways so it is not a concern for me!
Do yourself a favor and buy this Vacuum you will not be disappointed ! It makes your carpet look like new every time you vacuum!

We had previously owned a “Pet Vacuum” and it just didn’t go a good job. So when it was time to replace our old one I did my due diligence and searched the internet for the best one I could afford. I read both good and bad reviews to get a feel for what people are saying about a product. A Dyson was out of the question due to price, so I was after the best value. Some of the negative comments regarded the fact that the Kenmore Elite was not self-propelled, it was somewhat heavy, the height adjustment wasn’t automatic and the hose was too short. BUT, it worked very well. After looking over other brands and options, I bought the Kenmore Elite Upright 31150.
I was not disappointed! Yes, you have to manually adjust the height. No big deal. I need to do that once when I vacuum as we have shorter nap rugs in one area of our home. I then start in that area the next time. It is not self-propelled, but that’s okay because if you have the height adjusted correctly, it will gently pull itself forward. Most of us need more physical activity anyway! I know I do. The hose is short-ish, but works for most of what I need to do with it and there is a wand for extra reach. The wand extends nicely. There are a couple of handy attachments as well, especially the mini-brush that spins using the force of the suction.
We have three cats, one of which is a long hair who leaves piles of fine hair everywhere and the Elite has no trouble getting those out of our short nap carpet.
Suction power is outstanding and when using attachments actually needs to be managed with the airflow gate on the hose. Maneuverability is fine, but because it isn’t propelled by anything other than the spinning brush, it does take a little more effort than a self-propelled model. It is not “light weight”, but I don’t care about that. Like I mentioned, I like the physical aspect of using the machine.
Regarding comments that said the brushes wear out; What are these folks doing to make that happen??? Even when I have the height set lower than it should be (which you should realize immediately as the vacuum wants to pull fairly hard) I still cannot imagine wearing the brush out that fast. We’ve had this vacuum for some time and I’ve very happy with it.
A blue light on the nose of the machine lights up when you activate the brush then goes out after about 5 seconds. It will come on again when you go over an area with extra debris. My wife thinks it’s a gimmick, but I like it because it will make me go over that area slowly until the light extinguishes, ensuring it’s clean. This is typically where the felines favorite resting spots are, or near the entries to the house or around the fireplace. The LED “headlights” work great as well and really light up dark areas under furniture or in corners.
The vacuum does have a bag which I much prefer over the canister type vacuums as all dust, hair and dander is contained. There are also exhaust air filters. All of these work beautifully.
I don’t have any Cons on this one; I love it and would by it again.

This is the best designed vacuum I’ve owned. Set up was straightforward. It’s flexible in getting at different spots. It seems to be well-made as everything fits nicely.
It’s less noisy than other vacuums I’ve had. It works well on light weight carpets as you can disengage the roller while still having the vacuum suck up dirt.
The HEPA filter is nice as it prevents dust that was sucked up from flying around. Recommended for anyone who is sensitive to dust.
It’s very good but not perfect. It’s a bit on the heavy side, but that’s likely a result of having a strong motor. Also, when you engage the roller it helps the vacuum to move on rugs. I’d like it if the wand (extension) were a bit longer.
Replacing bags requires a bit of effort, but that’s probably because it requires a tight fit in order for the air filter to work properly.
On balance, it’s a good product which I would buy again.

My first reaction! It’s an excellent vacum! My carpets never looked cleaner, but it’s heavy if you need to move it from different floors..and high, and I’m not short .. I’m 5’9 and wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for an elderly or frail person, or on the shorter side. but! It’s a great vacuum! I love the attachments,, and suction power. And the vacuum is wide at bottom.. covers lots of area. My carpets looked brand new! I love the fact that all the dust stays inside . It seems very well put together. It’s like a Land Rover for vacuums.. or Mercedes..:)

This Kenmore upright vacuum was purchased to replace an old Kenmore upright (probably at least 15 -18 years old), which finally bit the dust in late March 2021. I have had quite good luck with Kenmore products, and after reading recent Consumer Reports reviews on vacuums, decided to buy another one. While I realize that Panasonic has “jobbed out” the manufacture of these vacuums to Cleva, Cleva is supposed to be using the same process and specifications as Panasonic. PROS: 1) VERY good strong suction. I currently don’t have any pets in the house, but if you did, I think it would be very good at picking up pet hair. I have used it on my soon-to-be-replaced carpeting, and it is very good at cleaning carpets. 2) Despite being fairly large and not a lightweight vacuum, it is surprisingly maneuverable. The carpet cleaning mode is rather like a self-propelled lawnmower, in that when you turn on the machine in that mode, you need minimal effort to move it along. (The bare floor mode isn’t as self propelled and requires more push, but it is not laborious). 3) It has a lower profile than my former vacuum, so I can get further under the furniture and the kitchen cabinets. 4) Height of brush head is easily adjustable – I have been leaving mine on the “low” setting. CONS: Not many of significance, really 1) It is not the quietest machine in the world, but few vacuum cleaners are actually quiet. 2) It is not a lightweight vacuum, so if someone was severely arthritic or did not have a great deal of arm strength, that person might want a lighter model. (However the self-propelling feature in the carpet clean mode really offsets the weight and makes it easier and lighter to use). 3) I suspect the replacement bags and the HEPA filter will be a little pricey to replace, but that tends to be the situation with most bagged vacuum cleaners.
I have not used any of the attachment tools, so I cannot comment on those at this time. So far, I have used the machine to clean carpets and floors 3-4 times and I have been quite happy with its performance. Now, whether it will last as long as the prior Kenmore vacuum did – which I gather was far longer than the norm, as Consumer Reports says a vacuum’s average life is 8 years – will be seen.
