Sure Miele vacuums are no inexpensive but so are Dyson and other top of the line. Some would complain that not using bags with a Miele vacuum is not optimal. I found that not to be the case and easily removed the canister so it could be cleaned thoroughly. It is a bit tricky but once you learn to do it, it becomes second nature.
The vacuum comes with multiple attachments, floors, carpet and rugs, built-in hand held, crevice, small hard surface. I have used them all and especially like that I can use the attachments for furniture, mattresses, even clothes.
What an upgrade that has eliminate the need for separate devices such as a dust buster type.

Great quality, easy maintenance (everything is accessible for cleaning), well-designed, vacuums well, and it’s quiet.
Maybe some LED lights would have helped, otherwise nothing to add.
I’ve owned three other major vacuum brands over the last decade, and now I see why they were so much cheaper. Should have gotten this years ago.

This thing works! The suction is equal to the Dysons I have owned, it’s light and easy to use. Great for my tile floors and the throw rugs.

Recibí una unidad sucia y previamente usada. Por ese motivo, tuve que devolverla.

Changing my review to 4 stars down from 5. Reasons stated at the end.
I’ve had this vacuum for 12 months now and decided it was time to share my thoughts. First, it was a REALLY hard decision to drop nearly a grand on a vacuum. My previous vacuum had been a Dyson DC33, and while it was the best I’ve owned up until now I still think it was overpriced for what I got. But even at more than double the cost I think I got my money’s worth with the Miele. The DC33 liked to chew through belts and Dyson made sure it was difficult for an DIYer like myself to replace the belts. It also started slowly losing suction almost from the time I started using it, and after 3 years of use it was practically worthless, even after a thorough cleaning and new filters. We temporarily replaced it with a Hoover “Commercial grade” vacuum that lasted about 6 months. Somewhere in there was a used Oreck XL we were given that was decent enough, but the bags were so small we were going through about one a week so
I should stop and say my house isn’t really easy on vacuums. We have 2 large dogs that often come inside, one of which is a Golden Retriever that seems to lose a pound of fur in the house any time he walks through the door. There’s also 4 kids, three of which are four and under that come with all the fun that toddlers bring, leaving cheerios, shredded paper, spit out food, broken crayons and who-knows-what-else all over the floor. The house is a mixture of carpet, hard floors, and hard floors with large area rugs on two floors.
Both my wife and I were concerned that a cannister vacuum would be difficult to transition too, but it took about 5 minutes of use to get over that. It’s a little different, but not so much so to get hung up on. And we find it easier to carry from floor to floor than an upright. The downside of this cannister vacuum is that it takes up more room in the closet and the handle portion is always falling over. The powered head works great and does a superb job on carpet and rugs of all heights. It’s pulled countless bowls of spilled cook rice right out of the carpet. It only does OK on hard surfaces, so switching to the hard surface head is pretty mandatory if you have both types of flooring. It’d be nice if Miele could find a way to attach that head to the cannister. The parts are all well made and snap together with a better feeling of quality than the Dyson. Cleaning it is involved, but is something necessary to try to ensure an investment like this lasts. My biggest complaint is the cord length. Another 5 feet would be life changing. 10 more feet and it’d be perfect. The auto retract is pretty slick though, unless you have a toddler like mine who discovered that button at 7 months and has spent the last 12 months following the vacuum around the house and slapping the auto retract button and laughing. Still, it beats unwinding and rewinding the cord with each use and makes this vacuum much more practical to pull out for small spills.
My other complaint is that you need to do a REALLY good job of picking up larger things before vacuuming, because the suction is so good it’s going to pick up everything in it’s path. Yeah, 1st world problems. In the 12 months we’ve had this I’ve taken the powerhead apart no less than 8 times to pull out small toys and Christmas ornaments that get pulled from the under furniture. There’s youtube video’s telling you how to do this because Miele didn’t have the foresight to make it easy to do yourself. Go slow; the parts are plastic and aren’t designed to be taken apart on a regular basis so don’t force anything. If you feel resistance you probably still have a screw you need to remove. It’s the same with the nozzle, its sucked up markers and pencils pulled from deep under couches, and they can’t make the bend through the handle so I’ve had to take the handle apart a couple times as well when they’ve gotten wedged in there. It’s just three torx screws and then twist the collar off, but again it wasn’t designed to be done on a regular basis and I’m worried the plastic the screw threads are secured to will eventually strip out.
Overall though, after a year of use neither my wife nor I have any regrets on spending this much on a vacuum. Sometimes we laugh at ourselves, because WHO REALLY drops $800 on a vacuum when there’s so many $100-200 options with 4 star ratings out there. But I’m hoping to get at least 10 years of use out of this one, time will tell if that actually happens.
Here’s my 2 year assessment and the reason for the reduction of one star:
We had to replace the power head. After taking it apart too many times because things kept getting stuck a wire eventually broke. I tried to splice it but it didn’t last. Apparently “authorized dealers” don’t really repair, they just tell you to buy a new powerbrush. Anyway, only had the powerbrush for a week when it sucked up a bread tie and got clogged with hair so I had to take the new one apart. The next week a piece of a candy cane lodged in the hose and clogged up a bunch of crap. I have a dedicated dowel now to unclog the hose. Miele REALLY needs to make disassembling a little easier or address the pinch points where things keep getting stuck. My Dyson never clogged this much. But to be fair, it never cleaned as well either and didn’t have nearly the suction power. Still, if I need to buy a new $250 powerbrush every two years I’m wondering if I’d be better off buying a cheap Shark every year.

Super pleased. Ease of handling, adjustable and powerful suction, super quiet compared to all others used in last 5 + decades. Well designed.

I have had built in vacuums, hoovers, dyson and this Miele is better than all. Finally I found a vacuum that I love.

I am kicking myself that I didn’t buy this vacuum sooner!
I love the Miele Blizzard canister Vacuum.
It was the price. I just kept thinking wow that is a hefty price for something that might break or won’t work in a year. So I tried a handful of other vacuums and bought them from target. Target has an easy show up drop off return policy. I tried each one for a few weeks… I tried the Dyson upright ball, Shark Swivel pro-pet and Hoover Wind-tunnel. Don’t even waste your time buying these.. Just bite the bullet and buy a Miele.
None of those vacuums compared to the Miele Blizzard. The Miele Blizzard hands down is the fit for me. In the past we had a central vac system. We also had the hoover wind-tunnel to cover drapes or place the central vac didn’t cover that last 15 years but was probably only truly used for 3 full years.
The Blizzard is a canister vac. I grew up with an old canister vac that would bump into your legs causing cruel shin bruises as you did your family chores. My siblings and I would fight for who got stuck vacuuming with those mean machines. So I avoided canister vacs. WOW the Miele is nothing like those monsters of the 80s. The Blizzard Miele is gentle and moves around gracefully. If it does bump you, you will never notice. It glides effortlessly on the floor or carpet. Fantastic design. It sits low to the ground so doesn’t collide with furniture or get stuck under chairs.
The parts are intuitive. I had no issues putting this together and I struggle with connecting the dots. I have mostly wood floors. Except for two carpeted bedrooms my home is all wood with a few low pile area rugs. I did not want a vacuum that sucks so hard on the area rugs that you can’t finish the job. This has an adjustable power strength and a separate head for rugs. These click on an off so easily. Again an intuitive designed. And the retractable cord. Perfect!
My cleaning time is faster. Why? because the nozzle can adjust so I can pop off the larger tube to focus on getting into the corners, or shelves or baseboards…Its telescope! Yup, you can open and adjust on a whim. In the past I often skipped doing the corners or drapes because the parts were stowed in a closet and it was a pia to run get them and struggle with connecting them. The Blizzard is designed so you have everything you need right there in front of you. At any length and any suction. LOVE IT!!!
But… Before you jump into a Miele I recommend you go to some online videos and learn about which one would work for your needs.
Often people think they want SUCTION. That somehow that is going to solve their problems. But trust me the Shark offered suction but I was fighting the vacuum to let go of the area rugs. The Miele was a perfect balance of suction but focused on picking up dust and debris not my rugs or drapes. I wanted medium suction because of my delicate rugs. I wanted something more for wood floors. I also did not want to deal with throw away vacuum bags. I wanted a bagless vacuum. But if you have allergies or pets the Blizzard may not be what you need. We have NO pets and mild allergies.
Miele makes other vacuums for thick carpets, dogs, allergy sufferers, throw away bags, stronger suction and filters to keep your home healthy and dust free. However as I say this the Blizzard has the best HEPA filter 99.999% of particles are sucked up and put into this filter making your air cleaner. The suction offers flow rate of 100k per hour. The coarse debris and fine dust can be separated. The coarse debris lands in the transparent dust container, the fine dust in a separate container with a fine dust filter. Honestly it is the best I have seen so far.
I won’t lie the price scared me at first.. But after a few deep breaths I bought it. And I have no regrets. It is a vacuum that is going to last.
Oh I forgot. When I was in Germany staying with friends. They had a Miele. So I got to use it while staying in their guest house. It was when i first learned about this vacuum. The one I bought in the US is far superior to the one I borrowed. I assume theirs was the classic C1 perhaps 10 years old. Visit the Miele website or online videos to find the right one for you. The Miele Complete KONA or Brilliant might be better for you if you have thick carpets and children.

I’ve always been a bit of a Miele fan, so I was not disappointed at all, when we got to try out the Miele Blizzard CX1 vacuum. Love that it is bagless, and I won’t have to buy filters for it. And it is so light-weight to use, yet strong in its cleaning. It was a bit of an eye-opener to see what our old vacuum cleaner wasn’t doing ….. a good thorough clean!
And, of course, it didn’t help, at all, that the vacuum is in my most favourite colour (LOL).
