I bought this vacuum refurbished by Amazon for an excellent price. I read reviews for stick vacuums, and this vacuum got a good review, so i purchased it. It is super easy to assemble, easy to empty the canister cup, and it’s easy to maneuver. It charges up enough for quick jobs such as wood kitchen floors, and works well on area rugs( mine are not thick rugs). I initially bought this vacuum for vacuuming a Ruggable large rug since the Dyson I own is way too strong for my Ruggable washable thin rug. I needed a vacuum that would go over rugs without destroying or sucking up the entire rug. Dyson is great for wood floors and carpet that is wall to wall, but not so great on area rugs( again too strong). This vacuum is light weight and easy to use. I will be purchasing a second one for my upstairs level as I like it so well. I’m not sure how long the charge / battery will last, but so far I’m thinking its worth the money.

This is a fabulous vacuum. I bought it on the recommendation of NYT’s Wirecutter. I love it. It is lighter, quieter than the Dyson and you don’t have to hold the on switch to keep it running. It is very easy to manuever. The battery lasts such a long time.

This is not an effective or easy to use vacuum, defeating the purpose for having a light stick vac like this.
The first problem is that it does an incredibly poor job of actually vacuuming. Almost every time I turn it off it drops a tremendous amount of dust and debris and small bits of things on the floor leaving a pile I need to clean up. Sometimes switching to the high power mode will help to suck up some of these bits and get them into the vacuum’s dust bin but it’s rarely the case that it doesn’t leave something substantial behind. This problem has only gotten worse over time to the point where it was at one time merely frustrating to use, whereas I now don’t even bother trying to use this vacuum because it fails so miserably.
when brand new the vacuum was vacuum was marginally okay on various surfaces but not very good on any. It was particularly bad on tile which is not entirely flat, but even on hardwood it did a lackluster job. After using the vacuum, only a handful of times and getting little bits of dust and hair and bedded in the spinning, vacuum head. It has become totally useless at picking up anything. No amount of pulling, and tugging and cleaning has proven effective to return this once med vacuum to any form of usability.
Before it stopped working at all my biggest gripes with the vacuum were twofold:
1) Emptying the collection bin is always an ordeal. Not once have I opened the bin to empty the vacuumed dust and materials without having to get a stick to repeatedly try to claw at what is impacted deep around the perimeter of the filter in between the plastic cylinder casing of the bin and the filter inside of it. I can’t imagine that engineers didn’t notice this problem – somehow they allowed the vacuum’s design to remain as is. It’s pretty unbelievable. Kenmore should be ashamed.
2) My second major gripe is that once the spinning vacuum head picks up too much hair and dust it becomes impossible to clean and the entire unit impossible to unclog. When I wrote my first review I gave this one star – in truth it deserves zero or negative stars. This vacuum does not work. It is an expensive piece of garbage.
At its best this vacuum was a pain in the ass to use, always leaving a mess behind. Even emptying the dustbin was a messy chore. Once the vacuum head became clogged the vacuum became 100% useless. I’ll never buy anything from Kenmore again, and I caution other buyers to avoid this piece of junk.

Should have bought a Dyson, wish I could return. The Kenmore cordless stick runs out of power quickly, is good for picking up crumbs on a hardwood floor but not good for picking up dog hair on a carpet.

Good for small spaces as it’s light, not very powerful, the cup isn’t large for all the waste. Easy to drop all the waste into trash at the push of a lever.
Vacuum strength has two levels, but neither great for large cleaning jobs. Sometimes, it won’t pick up cat litter crumbs from the bathroom floor.

Kenmore DS4065 perfect for small Apartment/Dorm rooms.
I recently moved to a small apartment: Small bathroom, large closet, medium living room with a large standard area rug that is not “fluffy” if you will, just flat. I needed something easy to use. I have a small black cat who mildly sheds. The new place is dusty. I am on the bottom floor of a big, old house. Dust comes up from the vents. I did a lot of research on smaller cordless vacuum cleaners. I am very happy I purchased this. It is perfect and I hope for you as well if you have a small apartment/dorm room. I’m 5 foot 5.
Unboxing was easy. The assembly was easy. The instructions were easy to read. I charged the unit. Later that night I used it for the first time. This product is very lightweight, maneuverable; the swivel is very good on this one, small enough to fit in some smaller spaces. The front cleaning head is about 10-12 inches wide, 2 inches thick (think Swiffer length left to right, if not a bit shorter). I used the product first on low power mode and that worked great for the first time. Very impressed. The second time I used it on higher power. Wow! Even better! I have the pics to show you what the results are for about a 10 minute cleaning. The unity is pretty quiet. The bin that collects is in a great spot. The unit does this hurricane action in the receptacle which, when turned off shows the dirt, fur, etc in a ball. (See pics) I really recommend this product for small places. I can’t write about large rugs or large places in general, just my small thin area rug that my cat lays on all the time and my small place. I mentioned my height. This unit is perfect for me. Holding it when cleaning, the handle is between my stomach and chest.
Pros: Pretty much everything. Small, light, eac.sy to dump contents, easy to clean. Stackable. Quiet.
Cons: I don’t have any so far. I will update at a later date if something goes wrong, etc
