I bought this less than a year ago (6/21) and the cord does stay out and retracts without pushing on the release. I now must use some type of clamp to keep the cord from retracting. This is with very little use. Another poor design is the movement. You turn the handle and it rotates without moving the bottom at all. Waste of money and time.

Great suction, Power attachment works well, attachments fit my old Kenmore, what’s not to love? I will have to get used to the On/Off being on the cannister, rather than the handle, but that’s a small change that I can live with. There was a delay in shipping that the seller explained and I couldn’t be happier with the product when it arrived. Used it about an hour yesterday and another hour today. I gave out after that and I want to baby this motor anyway, so it doesn’t overheat, (all that great suction puts off a lot of heat). The connections are metal, not plastic, so that’s a really good sign for longevity. I’m storing it in the manner suggested so I don’t stress the connections. Will update this review in about 6 months.

I finally used this vacuum to it’s fullest extent. Great suction. I just have rugs and it does very well on them. The suction needs to be adjusted as it’s so good it will suck up the rug, too. It picked up the cat litter with no problem. I used the power head on the rugs and bare floor with no problem. The attachment for the floor worked great too. I really like it so far.
Update: This is now early 2024 & the power bar quit working. Wish it would have lasted a few more years. It’s not like we used it that much & just around our house. Another problem is the power head needs to have better control. It just moves around too much so a little irritating.

I’m giving 1 star because I have 3 veccun Kenmore broken after 5 months of use and all with warranty I called Kenmore support and Amazon and they didn’t solve my problem Kenmore assistance told me that if it was a large product like a refrigerator they would send a technician but as it was a veccun anyway the attendant told me they didn’t care if I was at a loss with the veccun because they didn’t even fix it or refund my money

I have bought several vacuums over the years. The upright are just way to heavy. I had a Kenmore many years ago . And loved it. Don’t know why I went to an upright, maybe cause it was bagless. But when it came time to buy a new vac. I went back to the one I loved. It’s easy to use and has great suction. The power head work great. Even having to buy the bags is not that pricey. Overall I made the right selection on the Kenmore.

I have had 5 kenmore canister vacuums. I love them all. 2 are still in service at college with grandkids. My new one cleans well but is very loud. Also, the on off switch which used to be on the wand handle is on the back of the canister. The handle position allowed for quick on and off. Current place make it harder because you have reach to the back also the cord retracted is next to on off. No way to quickly discern which is which. If I can find a tank cleaner with on/off on handle I will be buying it and donating this one.

Repair turned out to not be that difficult and beater brush is working again. Doesn’t engage when unit is set on floor but maybe it’s not supposed to. Works fine on carpet again. I wish the vendor could have gone over possible fixes similar to the way tech support often does rather than force me to pursue full on setting up repair request.
Update, written just outside of the warranty window. I really liked this machine and it seemed to be doing an equally good job to its predecessor until just after the return window expired, at least the one Amazon offered. That’s when it decided to break- the level switch on the handlestopped working which meant the beater brush stopped spinning, which meant the vacuum no longer vacuums.
Due to the timing of when the vacuum decided to stop workin,g I’ve gotten no help from Amazon. I’ve also gotten no help from the vendor as the item was fulfilled through Amazon. So, now I’m trying to get help from the manufacturer for what is currently a useless piece of junk. Very disappointed.
This unit is basically and updated version of a similar Kenmore cannister vac that I just loved but which did eventually go to vacuum Heaven after I’d gotten several years of very satisfying use out of it. This vacuum is equally powerful, lighter weight and just as versatile. The suction is great, the swivel handle is very convenient for manuevering while using.
I haven’t even begun to use all the attachments but I’m sure I will get good use out of them as well.
