My ageing aunt wanted something light and easy to use, this is both.
She is a happy bean

Very good sweeper. Light to use.

This product looks sharp but fails to succeed in picking up any kind of degree. While sleeping, it goes right over anything you’re trying to pick up and leaves it right where it was. Very disappointing!

Having severe back issues means very little vacuuming. This little sweeper is awesome! I was thinking i would have to rely on garage sales to find such a “low tech” item, but no. I can use this thing every day and it doesn’t bother my back, and it does pick up more than dog hair. Maybe not dog food but other small crumbs and grass and such. My only concern is that the handle won’t last, it seems a bit weak, but better than a swiffer for sure. I also hope i can replace the brush when my hair has gotten it all tangled up. Great product, great price!

A vacuum cleaner sometimes pulls up rugs but this carpet sweeper does not do that. I am 76 and find it is excellent and easy to use. I have used Ewbank carpet sweepers for years in England but relocated to Malta last year. I have bought a new Ewbank because I need it for my rug. It works really well.

As described. Great for those quick clean ups but certainly doesn’t replace the vacuum

I have a cat who tracks cat litter onto the carpet but hates the vacuum cleaner…as does my husband! A few years back, I bought a Swiffer Carpet Flick that came with disposable sticky-cards to sweep up tracked litter between vacuumings. It wasn’t terribly effective but was OK for touch-ups. Well, Swiffer stopped making the refills and now vendors are charging ridiculously high prices for them. So for the same price as a box of 12 Carpet Flick refills, I bought this. Wow! What an improvement! Forget the Swiffer gadget…the Ewbank works almost as well as the vacuum cleaner. I didn’t buy it for tile floors, but I tried it in the bathroom and it did just fine! Emptying the compartments is not a big deal.
I don’t find any stiffness in the wheels (front or back)and it stores easily. The only draw back is that the width does not allow for it to fit into the tight places that one would have to use a vacuum’s hose attatchments for (like corners and wall edges).
All in all, the Ewbank Sweeper works very well and if it holds up (and I don’t see why it shouldn’t…not a lot of moving parts)its a very useful product for a very fair price.

Muy buen producto, limpia perfecto las alfombras sin necesidad de usar aspiradora

I use this for keeping the carpet clean between pulling out the big vacuum. It’s lightweight, strong, and picks up great. Does not pick up larger items like cheerios but does a great job of everything else. Easy to empty too. And I love that it’s quiet and uses no electricity.

Exactly what I needed to sweep up my floor mats in my kitchen. Picks up everything but would suggest to not brush backwards for you will lose what you picked up going forward. Would not use it on a plush pile area rug, tried and it started to tear it up but I got it for my kitchen rugs (low pile} and it works well, and easy to clean. I use a a bristle brush to clean the pet hair out.

This is a very good sweeper. I bought the Bissell Natural Sweep Dual Brush Sweeper first and returned it because the handle kept falling off and it was noisy. The Ewbank sweeper has a secure handle, is quiet, and does a better job. It doesn’t replace my electric vacuum but it does cut down the number of times I need to use the vacuum cleaner. I used to have to vacuum daily but now I use the sweeper every day and the electric vacuum once a week. I prefer it over the vacuum because it’s lightweight and quiet so I can use it while others in my home are asleep.
The are 2 cons: 1. It doesn’t work on my linoleum floors (so I don’t know if it will work on wood floors), but it does a good job on my carpets. 2. It only sweeps when you push it forward so you do have to go over one area at least 2 times. Ewbank does make a slightly more expensive sweeper with a dual brush that works in both directions. Neither of these cons is a big deal for me.
Overall, this is a handy tool to have. It will cut down the number of times you need to pull out your heavy electric vacuum and it’s quiet so you can use it anytime without disturbing your sleeping loved ones.
UPDATE 9/28/10: This worked great on my old low pile carpet but not so great on the new plush carpet we just installed. Bottom line: the sweeper works well on Berber/low pile carpet only. For this reason, I am changing my initial 5 star rating to 3 stars.

It’s pretty great. It does what it’s supposed to. The handle does come loose at the joints but I don’t care. I knew that before buying it. A twist of the wrist or a few strips of tape is all you need if it bugs you so much. Yeah, you might break it if you’re putting more weight on it than is necessary. It works fine without leaning on it. Push and pull with the weight of itself; that’s all there is to it! It picks up so much crap, I’m impressed. It won’t replace a vacuum, because it’s not supposed to. It’s great for those quick pick-ups between vacuum days. I love it.

Getting older is not necesarily fun and dragging out the heavy vacuum cleaner is getting more difficult as time goes by. I remember my mother having a sweeper that she used to clean area rugs with, so I thought I’d check out purchasing one. I bought this little sweeper with no high expectations except to possibly help keep my new carpets looking clean between vacuums. I was totally shocked at how well it works, even better than my expensive vacuum. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, does the job and, more importantly, very inexpensive. This is one great amazing little sweeper!
