BEST VACUUM EVER!! Not only did I vacuum with my KIRBY, but I then vacuumed with my new DYSON BALL ALLERGY UPRIGHT right after that! The results were shocking!!! I had heard and read on how much better Dyson was, so I am a skeptic and had to see for myself. I was both DISGUSTED AND VERY HAPPY at the same time. For as much as I paid for my KIRBY, I was upset to see that it didn’t live up to it’s name. HOWEVER, my new DYSON BALL ALLERGY UPRIGHT did!!! I will NEVER own another vacuum that isn’t Dyson. They stand behind their product and is always coming up with ways to make their newer vacuums better. My advice is to do your research like I did, and find the best Dyson that fits your needs. I chose the DYSON BALL ALLERGY UPRIGHT, because not only does my family suffer from allergies, but 3 out of the 6 of us have asthma. After vacuuming with my DYSON, not only did my carpet FEEL CLEANER, it looked cleaner AND we could notice a difference in the fact that no one was sneezing!! Now when I vacuum, I KNOW my carpets are getting cleaned! Amazon is a great way to go if you are looking at purchasing one. Not only do they deliver there product when they say they will but they give you a tracking number for you to track your package. My personal opinion is that buying through Amazon was a great, hassle free experience, and I will be doing more business with them in the future!!

We bought this as my daughter is asthmatic and we wanted to replace a Shark vacuum that was falling apart on us. The Shark did a good job but the parts are through the one and only US distributor you have to order from and there were a lack of parts for the model we had as well being extremely expensive when those parts broke, which was often.
On unpacking the Dyson, we found ourselves with a puzzle and an instruction sheet that was almost useless. It was surprisingly difficult to figure out at first. The best thing you can do is look at good pictures on the web to figure out how to place the pieces together, but one done, it is a nice vacuum cleaner.
The vacuum came with several clip on pieces, super to use but there is only one storage attachment area for the extra parts, which means you need to store them away separately whenever you need them. The one place that does allow for a clip on nose piece is not strong and the piece tends to pop off during vacuuming. This is one of two weak issues on the Dyson.
The second issue is placing it in an upright position. When bringing the stem upright to lock, there will be two slight clicks. The second click locks it into the upright position but it does not hold strongly and any bump tends to cause it to fall back down on the ground. Its the most serious design flaw of this model as you must make sure to pay attention bringing it up and solidly locking in place or it constantly topples over.
Those problems aside, this is a super vacuum otherwise. It is strongly built, despite falling over several times, it shows not damage and is a well built vacuum.
The suction is very powerful and it is always surprising how much this picks up when cleaning. I am a neat freak, always trying to clean my home clean and this by far is the best vacuum I have ever purchased. The first time I used this, I could actually make out the areas not vacuumed versus where I had made a pass with it. The rotating brush is strong, kicking up material into the vacuum, as well fluffing up the carpet. For a medium length carpet that has been matted down, a pass in two directions helps to bring the fibers back up on the carpet. The amount of dust that it catches is super. Since using this, my daughter has had less symptoms of her asthma, which is a very good sign of how well this picks up dust and dirt. While the Shark does a good job, this Dyson picks up twice as much dirt as the Shark vacuum did, you get what you pay for and the Dyson while expensive, does an excellent job at getting particles out of the carpet.
The suction pad is spring controlled which allows for the vacuum to work well on medium shag carpets to tiled flooring. Clean tiled flooring actually get a bit of a polished shine with the vacuum brushes.
The extra attachments are great as they allow you to reach high vaulted ceilings without a problem and the type of attachments allow for cleaning furniture drapes and even lamp shades well.
Emptying the unit is easy, press slightly to unlock the container from the frame and push the release further to pop the bottom open to release the contents into the garbage container. There is an upper filter section you need to clean every six moths but after that period of time, we found it very easy to just turn and dump to clean out.
It is a great vacuum and if it were not for the poor attachment clip and the locking mechanism for holding it upright, it would be a perfect 5 star grade. As is, the vacuum is one of the best suction vacuums on the market and if you do have a child with allergies, it is a must have to help with such.

2 week review. I’ve used the Dyson several times since receiving it. It’s amazing how much dirt and dust is coming out of our carpeting, that our previous vacuum was leaving behind.
Positives:
• Great suction
• Easy to maneuver
• Lots of attachments
• Long Cord – so less stopping to change outlets.
• Works well on bare floors
• Emptying the container is really easy with the push of a button.
Negatives:
• The wand that detaches from the back is a little difficult to remove, and awkward to use. It’s very long and doesn’t bend so I find myself vacuuming with it at difficult angles. Maybe I’m using it wrong. We’ll see over time.
• The long cord is a positive, but it also can be a little difficult to manage. I’ve become tangled up in it a few times, but not a big deal.
• There a lot of attachments, but no place to store them on the vacuum. So you will have to retrieve whichever one you want to use when you need it.
• When you’re finished using the vacuum, and you move the handle up to the upright position to store it, it doesn’t always lock into place on the first try. When you pop it into place, it almost feels like it’s going to break. Might just be something that I have to get over and use a little more force to get it to lock on the first try.
Word of caution, do not lift by the handle on the dirt container. I did this when I was lifting it to vacuum my stairs, and the container popped off. Fortunately it didn’t break.
I’ll update this review after using the vacuum for a longer period of time.

We use this in our Boutique and it easily goes from concrete floor to carpet and all around the store fixtures. A big plus is that is does not blow dust around at all like our previous cheap vacuums. Worth every dime. I would purchase again for sure and am now sold on Dyson. I love the ball feature because it allows ease of movement around things.
I am going to get another for my home. Love this vacuum.. Update 2 years later. This is by far the best vacuum ever. Does not blow dust around the room and I will NEVER go cheap on a vacuum ever again.

This thing is still chugging along, it’s almost 9 years old with no signs of slowing down. I purchased it in September 2015, living in dusty California. The house we lived in didn’t have grass in the back yard so it was a dust bowl and the previous tenants wore shoes in the house. This vacuum took a canister of dirt out of the floors by each sliding glass door and this was after professional cleaning. Now it only has to tackle area rugs but it’s doing great.
