I’m ammending my original review after having done way too much research and experimenting with steamer cleaners.
First, No matter which machine you but, they are mostly all made in one of two or three factories. This is made by Techno Vap in Italy. They also make Daimer units. The primary differences between units are pressure, tank size and number and temperature. The higher the pressure a unit produces, the hotter the water gets before it turns to steam. Once you know these facts, it’s really a question of what features you need in order to decide what product to buy.
This unit will do everything the $1000+ units will do… It may just take you a bit longer.
I bought this having never owned a steamer before and quickly decided I need this more than a vaccum I have a large home with almost 10,000sqft of travertine flooring, six baths and two kitchen areas. Realizing that this tank is very small for the whole house, I still like it for small jobs and I now use it in the guest house so I don’t need to drag the bigger unit over there.
The tank on this holds about a half gallon if you bleed it out completely when you fill the tank. Unfortunately, there is no indicator of how much water remains in the tankat any point in time (which is true of most steamers although I don’t really understand the why). With no indication of how much water you have left in the steamer at any given point in time, If you’re doing a big cleaning job, plan to work for about an hour then break when the steam runs out to allow this machine to heat up a fresh tank. If you completely run the tank out before refilling you don’t have to wait for it to cool down before removing the cap… It took a while to figure this out and I’m glad I did! It saves a ton of time if you need to refill it.
I know there are a lot of questions about using cleansers with or in these units. Dupray says certain liquids can be run through the machine, however, many professionals reccommend NOT running anything through the machine as it may affect the tank and shorten the life of hte heating element and thus the entire unit. Personally, having tried it both ways, I just don’t see the need. Even doing a commercial style kitchen with this unit, running anything through the machine didn’t make it clean any faster or any better than just water. If you really have something tough, like gum, then you may want to spray something on the area, but it’s really more about the accessory you’re cleaning with than the cleanser.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ATTACHMENT! One thing I’ve really learned is that these aren’t designed to “mop” a floor clean if it has deep dirt. You’re going to want a brush or detail type attachment to get the dark spots off. Maybe if your grout is sealed you may be able to keep your floors cleaner than I can keep mine, but the floor head is only going to get up surface dirt. However, that doesn’t make this a bad idea at all. Even the small detail brush on this unit will go through grout lines in a snap. Even filthy grout (and mine gets gross fast!) goes much faster than I thought it would. Once I decided to try the brushes on the grout I was shocked by what I could get up. Even some of the excess mud that was used to fill the tumbled travertine and wasn’t removed properly when the house was built ten years ago came off easily! My floors didn’t look this clean when the house was built! We can actually walk around with socks and not get the feet black in an hour! That seriously never happened, even with the cleaners with truck mounted pressure washer units I used to hire every year.
Yes, I still wish the cord was longer, but I’ll live with it for how easy this is to move around the room. Just know if you have a room that’s larger than about 12′ you’ll be moving outlets and yes, you need to unwind the entire cord and slide the machine around, but it’s not as big a deal as I thought it was after using it only a couple of times… After having tried many machines, this one REALLY stands out in value.
Another consideration is the cost of replacing the brushes. Dupray is pretty reasonable at about $2.90 per head. Additional accessories are also available on their site if you want things like stainless steel brush etc you can also get them at Daimler to fit this model’s “steam lance” (The wand with the small hole at the end that the detail brushes fit over.)
It’s size and price are terrific. It’s a plastic body… and I don’t know how long it will last. I’ve used it all day, every day for more than a month now – which in hours is probably more than most residential uses would use it in a year and it’s still working as well as the day I bought it. For the money, if mine past on tomorrow, I’d still be happy with it. Just keep in mind that some of the factors that determine pricing on steamers include the body- plastic on this, the heating element, which is not removable on this, and the tank, aluminum and not stainless on this. Even full, it’s light and it’s not hard to carry. By comparison to similarly priced units the attachments are AWESOME!!! This was a HUGE advantage for this machine! McCulloch makes a unit that costs almost twice as much but the attachments feel MUCH cheaper than this unit! It you use the right attachment, you don’t need to scrub, but steam is hot and the heavy material stays cooler. My granite kitchen island is 15’x22′ and I can put the squeegee on the extension wand and go from one side to the other without ANY difficulty- which for me almost justifies having this unit on hand in itself. PADS: Another thing I really love and can’t overstate the GENIUS of the clip that allows this unit to use almost any towel. I literally have seven different types of microfiber “mop covers” from assorted other failed attempts to find a compact floor cleaner. This is absolutely the best feature this machine offers! The first day I used the machine I went through every pad and towel I had and every one of them worked. The clips are solid, they will hold a towel that is a bit too large, even folded in quarters, and it doesn’t slip as you mop.
BOTTOM LINE: You need to know how much you’re willing to spend. If your budget is X, and this fits, you’ll likely find this is the best unit in the price point. Dupray makes more expensive units, as does Daimer and several other companies and it’s really just a question of what features you need in a given price point to be happy with the product. This unit should be able to do anything most residential users could ever want.
I would be glad to answer questions.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE My new steam cleaner! Heats fast, works amazing so far. I received it today and cleaned my windows with it. No more scrapping to get the fly poo off. Sparkly and streak free! I live on a farm and flies are terrible this time of year, LOVE this machine!
I have used my steam cleaner a few times now, microwave, bathroom taps, kitchen taps, water cooler and garbage can have all been sanitized.
This machine has cut my cleaning costs by more than 75% and I feel confident it’s clean! It’s even cut the grease on the cast iron grates on my gas stove, nothing else I’ve used would do that.

For FOREVER, I have had this little “tea-kettle” style steam cleaner and for its intended purpose, it’s a good little unit for specific applications like cleaning close, tight angles in the oven, or the sink…or, for removing persistent labels where WD40 wasn’t an option. The only issue is, the small cleaners take 15+ minutes to heat up and pressurize to give you about 15 minutes of cleaning and they lose pressure too rapidly. I’ve offhandedly wondered if there were something bigger and better, that wouldn’t break the bank…puzzled on it intermittently for years. However, since “I’m not a commercial cleaner”, I didn’t invest a tremendous amount of investigation into seeking a “retail-friendly solution”, thus I didn’t think I’d ever need one.
Until I DID need one.
Simply put, if someone gives you a gift that even HINTS at being a “re-gift” (something they may have had stored in-home for a period), or it might be a very gently used item, quarantine it and clean it before you put the item among your things. This simple act, discreetly applied, can save you weeks of paranoia and unhappiness. Not to mention the unpleasant stigma associated with the problems it wrought.
Enter the discovery of the Dupray Neat steam machine. Happy days inbound!
For the record, I consider myself a normally tidy person, but the Neat machine expounded on that in such a wonderful way. Note, please, that I refer to my Neat as a “steam machine”; because it’s more than just a simple “cleaner”, it’s a UNIT.
It comes with a collection of accessories that make it nearly impossible for dirt to hide from its reach. From a triangular head with or without a bonnet, to a window cleaning adaptor, a group of these wonderfully firm tiny brushes (one of which is metal!) that affix to the nozzle tip, a long-reach wand extension that allows you to steam power-clean floors and a broad flat-surface cleaning head that (get this!) not only comes with some nice cleaning pads custom-fitted for that head, the head itself is equipped to hold onto any cloth (suitable for steam-cleaning) big enough to get under the clips on the sides of that head! Those clips are rat-trap strong so the cloth won’t slip away or buckle and clench up while cleaning.
This doesn’t even cover all of the accessories. I guess the only gripe I might have is that the accessories don’t come with a caddy or some sort of bag to keep them neatly stored all together. Of course, for this product at this price point, I have no desire to kvetch about it…after all, how many of us have one of those re-useable grocery bags tucked away–you know the one–it’s the one in your cupboard (or under the passengers’ seat in your ride) that you resolve to take on your next grocery jaunt…and then you have to buy another one because you forgot to bring it.
The next best part? The Tank VOLUME on this machine. No more one-cup-at-a-time for me! That’s a huge time saver! Yes, it takes about the same amount of time to heat up as that little kettle, but the Neat steam machine carries a LOT more water which in turn, grants you a great deal more time to invest in cleaning. So it’s not such an issue to wait for it to cool down so you can fill it again and get back to work after a pleasant respite. Afterward, you’re back to eradicating filth (–and molds, allergens and germs!–) at 275 degrees Fahrenheit and have 54 ounces of water in your aresnal. In no time, you might find yourself looking for things to clean…it’s addicting, sort of.
Please Neat responsibly.
Steam cleaning is environmentally friendly as opposed to using a chemical cleaner or heavy disinfectants, plus you save money by not having to use cleaning agents with as great a frequency. So if you’re not into it for the “green” aspect, consider it as an option to keep a little “green” in your pocket! You don’t have to be a ‘tree-hugger’ to appreciate green advantages!
Neat also saves you money in detailing your vehicle interior, and can even be used on some of the parts when making repairs. In turn, using less water and nearly no solvents saves even more money. Seems like we have a theme, doesn’t it? Putting emphasis on the “eco” in both “Ecological” and “Economical”.
A major point is that you can clean more than just your home’s interior. Additionally, you can buy even more accessories and have certain extras dedicated exclusively to specific tasks…after all, you don’t want to use the same steel brush that cleanerd auto parts the week before, on cleaning the crispy bits from your grill, would you? I suspect not…and the extras are readily available at a pretty fair cost.
The ony thing hotter than the water temperature the Neat machine produces, is the wattage it offers to heat said water. This unit gets up to 1,500 Watts–which is higher than many home-use steamers at higher price-points. The name “Neat” isn’t accidental; it literally is everything one could want from a steam machine, all wrapped up in a Neat little package for a Neat little price.
And what a package, too. You have this sublimely simple design and function: a small white cube with a singular glowing power button following you around, smoothly rolling around on the floors of your home. (It’s like being stalked by an Apple product.) Other than the gusty hiss when the trigger is depressed (it has a lock feature, by the way, so you don’t need to keep an iron grip on the handle to keep the steam going), the Neat is pretty much silent. So enjoy your jams or be able to hear the phone ring while cleaning…the world is your toaster. Or something like that.
You can probably understand from the volume of this review, that I’m pretty happy with my purchase. That be the case, you’d be right on the money. I am happy…ecstatically happy, with my purchase. Just so you know, Dupray actually has some videos on YouTube featuring the Neat and other steam machines from their product line and I would recommend viewing them. They have informative subjects that were helpful in my decision to buy this machine, and there are dozens of rave reviews from other content creators on that platform, too. I did do my research before making my purchase and of course, encourage you to do the same. Personally, my research led me here to make this choice.
Incidentally, YES, I would encourage others to buy, and I DO recommend this product. I still love my little kettle for fighting germs and dirt in small applications, or using as a “gateway” to loan to someone else to get them into steam cleaning (“if you liked the results you got from the tea kettle, you’re gonna flip when you see this!” *rolls out the Dupray Neat* “This machine is the quintessential game changer.” ). Yes, using the “street corner pharmacist” marketing methodology…it’s super effective!
Quite possibly, one of the best purchases I’ve made to date.

Have ran about five tanks of water through this machine and it’s really quite powerful. A few things to note, it does say 8 minutes to make steam and this is definitely not true even when filling the unit with hot water. It’s more like 15-20. It does warm up faster after the initial fill, I did three tanks back to back the one day and the third was closer to the 15 minute mark. Also follow the advice and lock the trigger on when filling it makes filling much faster. Just don’t forget to unlock it once you turn it on.
You will want to wipe most things you’ve cleaned with paper towel after you are done if not using distilled water. This isn’t the fault of the cleaner, but rather the dissolved solids that drop out of the steam staying on what you’ve cleaned ie windows and chrome faucets. Working with steam in my work life I anticipated this. Also means you will have to descale the unit as per the directions. Not an issue just wanted to put it out there so people weren’t surprised. We don’t all read instructions hahaha. Speaking of instructions keep it moving and don’t wait in one spot too long, this steam is hot enough that there is the potential to remove finishes as well as dirt. I had zero issue but it is something to note. Some of the soap scum took multiple passes to remove but I didn’t ruin the finish on the tub.
I’m another thing to note, when the light turns green saying that you are ready to use purge the hose in the sink or tub as it will be full of hot water. Be mindful of the splash back as the water is at or near 100 C. Once you get constant steam your good to go, and for a long while too. I didn’t time it but if I were to guess a tank will last about 15 minutes with the trigger constantly depressed.
When using the jet blast steam attachment you will want ear plugs as it’s very loud, mine measured between 90-110 dB. This is far outweighed by the effectiveness of this tool. Made getting all the nooks and crannies as well as the grout between the tiles on the tub clean a breeze. As well as cleaning the top of our gas range. If you have a gas stove you know the oily residue that requires lots of elbow grease to get through. This thing obliterated it! The same with the oven, between the jet nozzle and the triangle brush it was almost enjoyable!
The triangle brush with the elastic microfiber cloth attached to it made cleaning out teenage daughters tub almost fun, it erased soap scum almost effortlessly once the cloth was wet and hot.
The floor attachment was amazing and worked well on our hard wood floors. The micro fiber pads attach easily and don’t fall off. Our floors already looked clean but the used pad said differently lol.
The window attachment works well, but is a little finicky to get just right. More of a first time use problem I think. Once I got the hang of it, it was quite good as well. Word of advice, have a towel or paper towel at the bottom of the window to catch all the water that condensed from the steam on the window, and I followed up with paper towel on the glass to get rid of streaks.
All of the attachments are well built and feel very good in the hand as well as not feeling cheap. The cord wrap in the base of the machine and rolling wheels so it follows while doing floors is a brilliant design touch. We threw all the dirty pads in the washing machine after we were done so the clean up is quite easy.
All in all first impression this thing is worth every penny. It was worked hard the first day and didn’t have a single issue. If this changes in the future I will update my review, but thus far I’m very happy with this purchase. Don’t wait if you’ve read this far, buy it you won’t regret it!

Very hot and powerful, I used it on the inside of the front load washer seal, to get rid of the mold and smell. Some stans were heavy, but it took off I say 85% of them.
