Edit a few days later: it can’t handle rugs. Not even thin flat ones. It won’t go up onto them, it gets caught in the edge.
Just got it today. I’ll update the review if anything changes. Knocked off a star because of the app.
Setup is easy. App is easy to install and add the vacuum.
The app is just OK. Basics work fine. But if you really want to get into managing your map(s) it’s a pain. I couldn’t even get it to rename a room from the default Room1 Room2 etc
IT’S SO QUIET
I previously owned two OG Roombas. The barebones randomly drive around bumping into everything Roombas. They were loud.
The Roombas did leave marks on things. I ended up putting felt on the bumper so it wouldn’t. This new one, I’m not worried about that. It barely touches the things it does touch, which are few and far between.
These new fangled robot vacuums with their lidar – fantastic. Mapping worked well. The cleaning pattern is very systematic and I love that.
These things have come so far! And this isn’t even one of the high end models.

The vacuum is great, gets everything except the very corners of things. Seems to have plenty of power (both in battery life and suction). The mopping feature is alright – it picks up the fine dust that doesn’t get hoovered up.
LiDAR navigation means it’s not bouncing blindly off the walls like a drunken hobbit; instead, it cleans the perimeter of a room then the rest of the floor systematically. If you have a floor-level mirror, it might confuse it a little.
The app is a little clunky and slow, and the map it draws is really really basic. Could use a feature for a “spot clean” where you drive the bot manually to get a specific area.
Overall, a great appliance.

This is my first robot vacuum ever and I am more than happy with how well it works. I had to do my research to find one that wouldn’t break the bank but also included mapping and this was the best option. It’s a little tedious setting everything up at first and the downside of the app is that I couldn’t get it set up on other devices for the rest of the family to use it too. The main reason I bought this was for my carpal tunnel and boy has it helped with that by not having to worry about vacuuming myself or mopping as often. I always use it on turbo mode although it does drain the battery quicker and it’s pretty loud but the other modes don’t pick up dust that well. I run the vacuum alone 3 times in a single room and then a 4th or even a 5th time with the mop pad on and it cleans pretty well. The mopping perfomance is mediocre at best but it helps keep the floors cleaner. I clean everything after every use otherwise it compromises the performance. The main con for me is that the map for my room keeps moving after every use as though the room were spinning slowly so I have to re-map the whole thing after some time for accurate cleaning but other than that it’s a good robot vacuum for the price.
P.S.: I added screenshots of the accessory usage, cleaning history to this date and how the map rotates on my room for reference.

Thrilled with my Dreame D9 Max! This little robot is a powerhouse when it comes to keeping my floors spotless. The mapping technology is impressive, ensuring it navigates around furniture with ease. It’s surprisingly quiet too, allowing it to clean without disrupting daily activities. The battery life is fantastic, covering large areas effortlessly. However, occasionally it gets stuck under low furniture, requiring a rescue mission. Overall, a top-notch cleaning companion that’s made my life easier. Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic product. I love it. 5 stars. My situation is:
– No dogs or cats, so no dog or cat hair to clean
– not a cluttered house
– I take my shoes off before entering the house. Not much dirt, just dust.
– No kids
– Both rugs and tile flooring.
I didn’t think the basic Gestalt of how to use the Dreame robo vac was clear even though I had a previous robo vacuum. Here’s what I learned.
After it maps the house take some time and work with the map management in the app to divide your house into rooms. Using the room divider, use your fingers to zoom in and get your rooms right. In my case, I have a tiled kitchen which is open to a carpeted family room. There is no wall. Dreame robo had no way to decide these were two rooms, but if I want it to mop the kitchen and not the family room rug, then it is best if they are made into two rooms. Then I had to adjust the divide line between the two rooms because it was difficult for me to place it properly.
I also divided my 1680 square foot single level home into 3 different sections of rooms. The point of this is to make it quick and easy to pick up what needs to be picked up or moved in only 1/3rd of the house. I can then have it vacuum a few rooms and a hallway twice, then return to the station. The next day I can pick up or move some chairs and an ottoman and do the next few areas. This can mean moving chairs from one area to another next to it so dreame can vacuum easier without having to go around all the chairs.
The one imperfection I’ve found so far is that the mopping function doesn’t spray enough water, even on the high setting. Next time I have it mop, I’ll use hot water instead of cold and see if that helps. A YouTube video suggested this. Essentially, I don’t think it adds any water to the damp mopping cloth I start with. – They tell us to clean the air hole, but that didn’t help.
Otherwise it does a great job and is quiet and even fun to watch.

Update July 25 2023: I emailed their tech support and was told to clean the tiny plastic water release holes. These are too small for even a small paperclip. Ends up there wasn’t a hold, just an indent where the hole should be. I punched through with a tiny screwdriver punch tool, creating the holes, and it works fine now. A strong Sewing pin should also work.

I absolutely love this remote vacuum. It is extremely powerful. So powerful on turbo has pulled a few threads out of the carpet. I don’t generally use it on turbo anymore but it’s there when I need it. The app is fantastic. I can add as many level maps as I need. I did purchase 2 additional charging bases on eBay for my second level and Basement . DT does not sell this separately 😭. After a year, I have had to change out the brushhead once, and will soon be coming up on another replacement. The brushhead is not very sturdy, but it is very effective. I would say it’s not the smartest robot on the market. It does overlap itself, sometimes vacuuming in strange angles. But it always finds its way back to the dock. My only recommendation would be if your carpeting is a high pile you will want to put a piece of cardboard, under the dock as the robot will think the dock is an obstruction. The mop head is a convenience, but not a replacement for deep cleaning. After every cleaning, I am amazed at how much this robot picks up off the floor.

I have three cats so buying this robot was a game changer for me, my home it’s always clean, free of cat hair ;). Support also was excellent, I had an issue with the water container after several reviews the identify that the problem was in the water container wheel so they sent a new water container.

My robot “Peaches” does a great job at keeping our house clean! I’m not new to robot vacuums myself. I”ve owned a Mi robot vacuum mop in the past so I know exactly what it does, its strengths and weaknesses. Hence, I decided to go with Dreame D9 max which is basically a subsidiary of Xiaomi. Well, I’m happy to report that the robot vacuum is incredibly precise with mapping and cleans all the nook and corners of the house effortlessly. The app is a breeze to use and all the possible options you’d want. My home is a Condo and has a mix of hardwood floor and tiles and this cleans both the surfaces thoroughly. There are, however, some ugly corners (behind doors) that it cannot reach. In such scenarios, I simply use a broom and move the dust to a place where it can vacuum. I mean, compared to my daily chore of cleaning the whole place, that’s the least I could do. As for mopping, let’s just say it’s ‘adequate’. I mean, it mops but since it cannot apply pressure, you cannot expect it to clean hard stains on the floor. If you think about it, it uses about 2-3 cups of water for the entire 800 sq feet area as opposed to using an entire bucket if you were to do it manually by yourself. If I had to speak of the value and if I’d recommend it certainly! It is great value specially on sale which I believe happens frequently so wait patiently for it to fall below $300. I’d definitely recommend it for the peace of mind and nice little automation for home. It does save you the cleaning time so you could make good productive use of the time (at least that’s how I convinced my wife *wink wink*)
