As I live in the UK I expected the Dirt Devil to be OK for UK voltage and have a suitable plug. It did not, but an immediate refund given by the vendor, so no complaints!

It works great around the house with very little effort and the power head brush is also a big plus. Some notes however as this is my second one. Watch the power brush if you have family with long hair it tends to get coiled up a lot. Other note is when storing the power cord back on the unit watch you don’t tighten too much when going around the mounts it’ll pull the power cord right out of the unit.
Highly recommend however when this is my second unit.

I got defective piece… not getting started may be power supply issue

I just got this vacuum cleaner and tried it for the first time. I was impressed with the pickup power as it picked up a lot of stuff I could not even see with my eyes.
The build quality is not that bad really, I’d give it a 4.5 star rating. The bottom part is decent, motor part is decent, the tube is steel and does not bend with use, and the handle is decent. All the plastic seems thick enough to put up with some use over time.
The motor amperage is 2.0 Amps, not particularly high, but it seems to pick up good enough and with the bottom brush rotating it lifts things up and then sucks them in.
Cleaning is easy like other vacuums of this type. You press a button, take the clear plastic part out, then remove the filter, dump, dust off the filter a little, then replace. Nothing unusual there. From what I have read you can also wash the filter off with water if needed.
The motor housing and debris compartment is a little bigger than the other stick vacuums I have been looking at. That means I won’t have to empty as often. The other one I have is smaller and I have to empty that just about every time I use it.
This one does not come with many attachments though, although I won’t need them myself. It does come with a crevice attachment. It’s a little wider than most but seems good enough. It’s interesting that many of the other stick vacuums come with a variety of attachments. It could be that many people do not use them anyway, I know I don’t. I mainly purchased this because I want to do wider areas without spending too much time going back and forth and back and forth with a little pickup head.
Oh, you can also turn off the brush so it does not turn. The power switch has two positions: the first turns on the motor, and the second keeps the motor on and turns the brush rotation on also. You can use that to turn the brush off which I think is a good feature also. The brush itself is rather gentle too.
The thing I like the most is the rotating brush on the bottom. That really helps clean the carpet. I use it on a hard floor and a low pile carpet, haven’t tested it on a thick pile carpet. For the carpet I use it on, it picks up all the debris, no problem there. With the brush head on, it will not pick up a penny. However, I have an older Dirt Devil Scorpion and that will not pick up the penny either with the brush head on, and that one has a 7 Amp motor (at least 3 times that of this stick vacuum).
Overall I’d say it’s a pretty decent vacuum cleaner.
I am most likely not going to do a video. All they show is what any vacuum can pick up, they do not show what they cannot pick up. Heavier objects are going to be a problem with any vacuum though unless you use something like the crevice tools.

I bought this as a replacement for my Eureka 169B whose brush roll motor died after 4.4 years. The Dirt Devil Vibe SD20020 is super cheap right now $19.98 probably because DD seems to have come up with a new model that it’s releasing this month.
Both the DD Vibe and the Eureka are fairly light (both are 4.4 lbs) and they both have a motorized brush roll. Both of them have a rating of 2 amperes. The suction power of the Eureka is strong but the DD Vibe’s is even stronger. The DD Vibe can pick up uncooked thin pasta (linguine) and whole peppercorn off a smooth surface. The Eureka can’t.
You can remove the handle off the Eureka to convert it to a “handheld” but it’s not really a handheld vac because the floor nozzle is still attached. The DD Vibe, on the other hand, can be fully separated from its floor nozzle, converting it into a real handheld vac. It even comes with a crevice tool which is not as narrow (therefore, doesn’t suck in as strongly) as the quick flip crevice tool of the Dirt Devil Scorpion SD20005RED but good enough for general hand vacuuming.
The crevice tool can also attach to the handle so I don’t have to go looking for it when I need it. This is very convenient when I’m vacuuming the kitchen floor and I need to switch to a handheld to get at little pieces of debris in tight corners. I used to have to go and get a separate hand vac for this. Now, I only have to put my foot on the floor nozzle (to hold it down) while I press the nozzle release with my left thumb then pull the hand vac part off the floor nozzle with my right hand. So quick! However, I don’t think reaching down for the nozzle release button is going to be easy for people who have problems bending low. I tried lifting up the DD Vibe (so I don’t have to bend that low) and pressing the release button with my thumb while the rest of my fingers hold the front of the floor nozzle, then I pulled the floor nozzle off. I was able to remove the floor nozzle without having to bend. However, some people with weaker/stiffer hands would probably find it difficult to press the button while also holding the floor nozzle. It would be easier if you can rest the floor nozzle on some higher surface (mind where you do this because the floor nozzle is dirty!) so you can press the release button without having to bend low.
The cord is 15 feet long. Some people find it too short but 15 feet seems to be the standard length for stick vacs. I usually do one section of the house at a time and just replug the stick vac into another outlet when I move from room to room.
The dirt cup is clear so you can easily see when it needs to be emptied. There’s a clear window over the brush roll so you can check if the brush roll is working or not.
I do a lot of sewing. Threads on the floor get wound up around the brush roll as they do on any other vacuum cleaner brush roll. I turn on the stick vac (brush roll off) then take pointy-tipped scissors and snip along the length of the brush roll to cut the threads and pull them off the brush roll. The cut threads get sucked into the vacuum cleaner.
The DD Vibe uses filter F77. I usually buy a spare filter so I can swap a filter in when the other one has been washed and is waiting to dry. On the Dirt Devil website, the F77 is $2.10. The price on Amazon starts at $11.29 (why?). On cleaning the filter, the owner’s manual says: “Hold filter under running water to rinse. DO NOT use soap/detergent. Tap excess water out of filter. Allow filter to COMPLETELY DRY for at least 24 hours before replacing in dirt cup.”
Just “hold the filter under running water”? That must be a very clean filter. In my experience, dirt/hair/debris on vacuum cleaner filters don’t just fall off by themselves. They cling really tenaciously. I usually have to tap the filter on some hard surface and also use an old toothbrush to remove the dirt. The manual doesn’t say why detergent shouldn’t be used. Does it have some special coating that’s going to be removed by detergent? Don’t you just hate it when someone says “don’t do this” but doesn’t tell you why (and the reason is not as obvious as say “don’t touch the soldering iron bit when it’s plugged in or hot)?
The DD Vibe, with a 2A rating, is already a lot better than most other stick vacs which have much lower ampere rating. I wish though that manufacturers would make stick vacs with higher power rating. My Dirt Devil Scorpion handvac is 7A. Why can’t they use that same motor on a stick vac with a motorized brush roll?
There are 4 small rollers on the bottom of the floor nozzle. They roll easily on smooth surfaces (wood floors, stone tiles). However, the floor nozzle doesn’t glide well on rugs. I have super low-pile entryway, kitchen and bathroom rugs. Pushing the stick vac forward doesn’t help. It “sticks”. What works for me is lifting the stick vac, then setting it on the rug and then pulling it back. I repeat that all over the rug until I consider the rug sufficiently cleaned. Using the brush roll also fluffs up the bath rug (You know when bath rugs look so flat after so many feet have stood on it) and makes it look fresh again.
Except for the handle tube (metal), everything is plastic (the brittle kind). I felt a bit of apprehension when I looked at the plastic handle and the two screw holes I have to use to screw it to the metal handle tube. There’s just very thin brittle plastic between the metal screws and the metal handle tube. Be careful when you assemble the handle. Don’t overtighten or you can crack the plastic screw holes.
The end of the plastic handle doesn’t have a hole. It may not be important to some but it is very important to me. The Eureka is similar to the DD Vibe in that it also has a plastic handle and a metal handle tube. However, the plastic handle of the Eureka is thicker and has a hole. I use that hole to hang the stick vac instead of just standing it at some spot and having it fall to the floor when it gets bumped by someone or something. To compensate for the absence of a handle hole, I stationed the DD Vibe near a narrow post on which I hang a looped Velcro cable tie. I slip that loop over the post and DD Vibe so that the DD Vibe doesn’t just fall or slide down the floor.
My DD Vibe was shipped by Amazon Logistics. They didn’t use any shipping box at all. They just slapped the shipping label on the product box (that doesn’t have any protective packing inside at all) and shipped as is. Amazon cutting corners – hate it.

My vibe vacuum came used but practically like new, it was just missing a screw for attaching the handle (that’s the only reason for the star deduction). Easy fix, some electrician’s tape did the trick. This thing is a total lifesaver for small spaces where it doesn’t make sense to have a full-size vacuum. Carpet brush works pretty well and it’s really easy to empty out for cleaning. The head is a little stiff when detaching it to use the smaller nozzle attachment, but I’m sure that it’ll loosen over time. My grandma has one in her apartment and I loved using it to clean her place, so I got one for myself too. I only wish it had a slightly narrower / longer attachment to make it easy to get into super tiny spaces like vents and under car seats. Still, totally worth it. 🙂

Vibe $30 used on Amazon warehouse, I wasn’t expecting much. Easy to use and put together. Feels sturdy. Lightweight. Comes with a crevice tool. Cord length is adequate for the size… For its size this vacuum “package” does an excellent job. The suction power isn’t like a regular vacuum, as it’s got a small motor. Is the suction amazing? No, but it’s adequate for the design. With the crevice tool, the concentrated suction does a decent job. What makes this thing great is the motorized beater bar. Without it, this vacuum would be frustrating and not recommended. I honestly wouldn’t buy this type of vacuum without one. It’s also designed so debris doesn’t shoot out the back. Once the beater bar gets the debris of the floor and in the air, there is enough suction to trap it. I used on the linoleum in the kitchen and was anticipating getting hit in the shins by debris. Not a single thing came out the back. On the linoleum, without the beater bar turned on, the vacuum could only get less than 50% of the debris off the floor. With the beater bar on, 100% no problem. It’s a night and day difference in capability. You will have to wash the filter after each use. There was layers on layers of fine dust built up on it and this thing needs all the suction power available. For the price and what it does for that price I can easily say 5 stars..Great purchase.

Saludos!
