So much easier to use than a heavy vacuum. I just moved & have been too busy unpacking boxes to vacuum. I have a short haired dog, which everyone who has one knows, sheds more than long haired dogs. And I am allergic. I can’t believe how much dog fur accumulated on my carpets (I HATE carptetting, but this is what came with the house). This little unit cleaned it all up in a jiffy. I still may have to vacuum in the teensy space between the carpet & the wall, but for now–before I tear up the carpet for hardwoods–this does the job. And it works on the tiled areas, too! For the price, I could throw it away, but I think I will keep it a bit longer–it really works & is so much easier to lug around than a vacuum cleaner–easier to clean, too! I just dump the gunk into the toilet, because most of it is organic waste, anyway–dog fur & the gunk that sticks to my shoes as I walk around the neighborhood. Why would anyone vacuum spewing the tiny bits of fur & dust into the air they breath? Plus, I like that it is people powered & requires no electricity. And no wasteful filter bags, either!

We now have more pets than humans in our house, and I needed a quick way to clean up cat fur, litter, and crumbs, especially from our black rug. I remembered the carpet sweepers my parents used to use, so I started looking for one. This one was inexpensive and had some great reviews, some terrible, but due to the price I felt I could try it out.
It’s worked extremely well on rugs, not so much on the wooden floor. On the wood, it mostly pushes around anything that will roll, even if I go over the items multiple times. But it easily cleans up all the white cat fur and crumbs from our black-background rug, and much more easily than the vacuum cleaner does. It also works really well on a rug with deep grooves and on sisal. As an example of how well this sweeper works, I ran it over a rug I’d recently vacuumed, and it still picked up hair and fur and maybe some crumbs/litter. I was also able to clean a corner of the rug under our bed that’s hard to get the vacuum cleaner into without switching to the tools. (The width of the sweeper is smaller than I’d imagined.)
My only complaint is the color; the dust shows up right away on the black. Also, it’s not fun pulling hair out of the brushes on the bottom, though it’s also not fun emptying our bagless vacuum cleaner…. But it’s very easy to empty the dirt from inside the sweeper into the garbage can by just pushing on either side of the bottom.
Some people complained that the handle broke easily. I’m not sure what they meant by “broke,” but I’ve found that I have to tighten the handle periodically, as it sometimes feels like it’s loosening when I carry it. All in all, though, it’s a quiet way to clean your rugs (I can listen to music while using it), environmentally friendly since there’s no electricity needed, and handy since it’s so light. I’ve had this over a week now and have used it multiple times, and each time I was very happy I’d bought it and wished I’d thought of getting a carpet sweeper years ago.

Very sturdy and works great. Always like Bissell, will use forever. Great on Indian floors and low carpeted areas.

This Bissell Sweep-Up is a very good tool for cleaning short-pile carpets and rugs when you don’t want to bother getting out a large vacuum cleaner. The sweep-up is especially good at getting under furniture without having to move the furniture out of the way. It is excellent for cleaning small rugs where a vacuum cleaner would lift the edge of the rug to tangle in the vacuum head. It is also excellent for rugs that have tasselled edges since it straightens out the tassels without damage. The downside to these sweep-ups are that long hair gets tangled in brushes requireing time and some difficulty to clean the brushes for optimum operation. I deducted a star for this in my review. The performance on hardwood floors is not the best so use a dust mop on them to keep them the cleanest. Performance on long pile carpets or rugs (shag carpet or deep pile) is also problematic since the depth of the pile interferes with the brush rotation and it is difficult to push making the pickup of dirt not really possible. Cleaning the sweep-up trays and brushes is also best accomplished with a vacuum cleaner so you will not be able to eliminate the need for a vacuum cleaner if that was your intent.
I have had the opportunity to compare the performance of the Bissell Sweep-up to the equivalent Fuller cordless sweeper. The Fuller is smaller in footprint than the Bissell making it more manuverable in tight spaces. The brush on the Fuller is stiffer which, IMO, makes it less effective at picking up dirt and particles. Performance of the Bissell is superior on hard surfaces than the Fuller in my observation. The Bissel and Fuller are equivalent in quality of build so that is a wash. I am able to find replacement brushes for the Fuller on Amazon but not the Bissell that I could find. I am able to get replacement parts for the Bissell at other websites so both are equivalent for long term use for parts that wear out (Brushes). The Bissell Sweep-up was less expensive than the equivalent Fuller product.
I liked the Bissel Sweep-up enough that I bought a second one. I recommend this product.

This is amazing! When it arrived, a couple of my housemates noted how they had Bissell Sweeper when they were growing up or in their grandparents house, and that the sweeper still works.
As advertised, it does pick up dirt and things so easily on all surfaces. Clean up is a breeze- just with a press of a button/ press thingy. It feels sturdy and durable; I look forward to having this with me for the next few decades.
There are only 2 “weaknesses” about this sweeper:
1. It’s unable to clean corners or to turn sharp corners or clean along sides. I recommend sweeping dirt away from corners and sides with a hand brush or something and then sweep them up with the sweeper, which would do the job swiftly
2. As we have a cat with long hair in the house, their loose fur gets caught up on the front and back swirl brushes. If it’s full and not cleaned immediately, it will make it harder to use the sweeper to pick up dirt normally. But this is just like normal electric vacuum cleaners nowadays- it still needs cleaning and maintanance to be able to do its job well .

It’s manual, works great for pet hair…..I had another type of Bissel manual sweeper and it was not good….but this Sweep Up is made better and works great
